Lophocereus gatesii Species Plant
Cactus species Lophocereus gatesii aka Pachycereus gatesii is a columnar to treelike multi-branched cactus that can also tend to sprawl. Many spines which are brownish-red on new growth turning grey-white colored on older stem growth. Stem growth averages 2-1/2" to 5" inches in diameter and 10' ft.+ tall if somewhat supported with in a bush in its native habitat. Very drought tolerant once established. Rarely found in collections & often hard to find.
Specimen Size: 4" tall by 2" in diameter.

Native To : Mexico-Baja California Sur.
Flower : Is pale Pink to coral-apricot colored.
Care : Lophocereus Gatesii comes from the most southern areas of Baja so not very cold hearty but has been reported to take 25 degrees for very brief periods and grows ok here at the nursery zone 9a. If any frost recommended give protection in winter. Regular water in summer to occasional water in winter. Semi-rich to sandy soil with good drainage. Full to part sun.
